What is Rosacea and How is it Treated?
Rosacea is a common skin affliction that creates the appearance of blushed or flushed skin, little red bumps, or visible blood vessels on the surface of the skin. It can be a very frustrating and upsetting ailment. But don’t fear! There are plenty of rosacea treatments available to you. Because rosacea is such a common malady, dermatolgists have created a host of remedies and treatments in rosacea therapy.
One option for rosacea is topical treatments.
These are creams, washes, or ointments that you apply directly to the skin. These work by targeting the immune system malfunction that’s causing your rosacea. Your dermatologist can prescribe you a topical treatment with active ingredients to help calm your rosacea flares.
However if your skin is partcularly inflamed or if you’ve tried topical treatments to no avail, your dermatoogist may prescribe oral medications. Like topical creams, these treatments work as anti-inflammatories. However these treatmnets work from the inside-out, making them a stronger weapon against more serious cases of rosacea.
