Check Out This Illegal Airbnb Busting!
When you book a fancy-looking Airbnb at a luxury destination, most would assume that it’s a completely legal housing rental. Unfortunately, cases of scam Airbnbs have been on the rise lately, with people not knowing they’ve been ripped off until they arrive to their visit. While Airbnb has regulations and refunds available for those who have been scammed, sometimes the law needs to be directly involved.
As you will see in this video, there are few limits that people won’t go to to make a few bucks off of unsuspecting Airbnb guests.
Though this particular instance of illegal renting happened in Miami Beach, these issues are known to arise all over the United States. “Renters” will allow short-term stays in home and apartments that are not theirs to rent, and then advise the guests to lie to the police about staying there. Not only is this a scam, it is against the law and can find people in loads of legal trouble. Sometimes guests are even invited to stay in illegal or foreclosed areas of the city, making them trespassers. Next time you book your airbnb, make sure your host has reputable reviews and double-check the location.
