In Eastern cultures, the color of mourning is white, which is why white wedding dresses are extremely rare in Eastern countries. In the Western world, white dresses are commonly used for weddings because the color white isn’t associated with mourning. It wasn’t until 1840 when Queen Victoria made the white wedding gown common for weddings.
